When you need me…you come around. And when you see me…oooo…I play the clown. Well, you deceive me. You tell me lies. And then you leave me… oooo…it makes me cry. I hear you breathe. I hear you sigh. You say you need me…then say goodbye. It’s all a game, a toss of the die. You play to win, I play to survive. ‘cause when you need me…you need a fool. You never free me…oooo…you make the rules. You know you use me…then run around. And you abuse me…ooo…and bring me down. You better choose. I think it’s time. Or you might lose me. Make up your mind. Well, you know you’re gonna leave, gonna say goodbye. Never settle down with me, always make me cry. Next time, baby, when you come around. I’m gonna take your little game, flip it upside down. You better heed me. And please believe me. ‘cause if you leave me. Then, when you need me. I’ll say goodbye…say goodbye…just say goodbye, girl… Ooooo…say goodbye. Say goodbye, now.

Deep down, let’s face it Both of us know it’s looking like the end So now, before it’s too late One of us has just got to break or bend Is it too late, too late for tears? We know, c’mon, be truthful Something’s gone wrong and now we’re all washed up There’s words we should have unsaid They tore us apart, but we can patch it up Is it too late, too late for tears? Come on girl, admit, you still love me a bit, don’t you? Come on girl, admit, you love me just a bit, don’t you? Is it too late, too late, really much too late for tears? I’ll change, or really try to Make it like it was when we first started out In time, I’ll make it up to you But you won’t see if we don’t turn it around Is it too late, too late for tears? Come on girl, admit, you still love me a bit, don’t you? Come on girl, admit, you love me just a bit don’t you? Is it too late, too late, really much too late for tears?

Give me a sign that you want to be mine And I’ll hold you and love you for all of our time Please meet my eye or just give me a sigh And I’ll hold my arms open and take you inside Yours is the smile that I’m longing to see Yours are the eyes that I want to see me Standing apart we’re a song that’s unsung Just some notes in a rhyme that has yet to be rung Say that you’d like our two hearts to collide And I’ll give you the key that will take you inside Yours is the voice that I’m longing to hear Yours is the heart that I want to be near Just take my hand and say you understand And I’ll hold you and love you as long as I can Whisper my name and say you feel the same And I’ll hold you and love you all over again Yours is the smile that I’m longing to see Yours are the eyes that I want to see me Yours is the voice that I’m longing to hear Yours is the heart that I want to be near Say that you’d like our two hearts to collide And I’ll give you the key that will take you inside Give me a sign that you want to be mine And I’ll hold you and love you for all of our time Hold you and love you Hold you and love you Hold you and love you for all of our time

Do Ya Do It? 05:53
DO YA DO IT? Do you do it – or do you just wear the T-shirt Do you do it – or do you just wear the T-shirt If you don’t do it – what are you trying to be There’s greybeards wearing Harley D’s There’s Emos all in black There’s longhairs wearing Led Zep Ts With four signs on the back There’s little girls just hardly born With T-shirts screaming porn And little-bitty boys should be playing toys Walking round with Satan on Do you do it – or do you just wear the T-shirt Do you do it – or do you just wear the T-shirt If you don’t do it – what’s that you’re saying to me Weekend warriors dressed to kill In Guy Fawkes Vs and Ts While kooks in suits and cowboy boots Bring the country to its knees Used to be Ts about love and peace But now it’s burn the banks Some say occupy the streets And some say send in the tanks Do you do it – or do you just wear the T-shirt Do you do it – or do you just wear the T-shirt If you don’t do it – just give that T-shirt to me Wear your culture on your chest Paint your values on the back But come the time to take the test You’re just running with the pack Do you do it – or do you just wear the T-shirt Do you do it – or do you just wear the T-shirt If you don’t do it – what are you trying to be Do you do it – or do you just wear the T-shirt Do you do it – or do you just wear the T-shirt If you don’t do it – what’s that you’re saying to me Do you do it – or do you just wear the T-shirt Do you do it – or do you just wear the T-shirt If you don’t do it – should you be wearing that T Do you do it – or do you just wear the T-shirt Do you do it – or do you just wear the T-shirt If you don’t do it – just give that T-shirt to me

She lived out on the highway Beside the sea And when she drifted down my way She went sailing out, into the dream Like a comet at midnight She paints the sky With the light of her laughter And the sparkle in her eye We were married at sunrise Beside the sea And as I drifted in her eyes I went sailing out, into the dream

Cotton Mouth 03:26
Just like a chameleon in your coat of many colours Just like on the spectrum Sometimes only one shines through That’s when I see you Hide behind your wall of words as you are wont to do But every now and then there comes a phrase And I hear you - that’s when I hear you Cotton mouth Pretty mask Play out your charade Shoot the breeze Turn your coat It’s really all quite sad It’s really all too bad for you Hand in glove you feel your way and never ever touch But every now and then your guard will slip And I’ll touch you That’s when I touch you Cotton mouth Pretty mask Play out your charade Shoot the breeze Turn your coat It’s really all quite sad It’s really all too bad for you Just like a chameleon in your coat of many colours Just like on the spectrum Sometimes only one shines through That’s when I see you

She cried a vale of tears and let it come between us She lied a litany of doubt and turned away She sighed a million broken heartbeats like subpoenas Denied a history of love and went her way Time and tide ain’t gonna wait for no-one Life’s too short to sit upon your hands Set a course and sail into the sunrise Time and tide roll on like shifting sands I tried a million times to bridge the gulf between us I died a million little deaths to hold her hand I watched her fade away entangled with her demons I watched a tide of tears wash our names from the sand But I ain’t gonna sail across that water No I ain’t gonna sail across that sea I ain’t gonna sail across that water Let her come to me Time and tide ain’t gonna wait for no-one Life’s too short to sit upon your hands Set a course and sail into the sunrise Time and tide roll on like shifting sands And I ain’t gonna sail across that water No I ain’t gonna sail across that sea I ain’t gonna sail across that water Let her come to me

Never said a word Never left no note nor nothing Simply drifted away Like a whispering voice or something Never said no goodbyes Not a hint she was going somewhere Simply melted away Like in a dream Did a moonlighting scene But oh she could’ve done me better She couldn’t have done me worse no Oh and I couldn’t just forget her Even if I tried Oh and she should’ve done me better She should’ve done it right now She could’ve done it better Could’ve done it better if she tried. Only needed a word Explanation, excuse or something Might’ve made it alright Might’ve helped me in readjusting But she just faded away Simply pulled the old card trick on me Find the lady she said Like in a dream Pulled a conjuring scene But oh she could’ve done it better She couldn’t have done me worse no Oh and I couldn’t just forget her Even if I tried Oh and she should’ve done me better She should’ve done it right now She could’ve done it better Could’ve done it better if she tried.

about

Remixed, remastered and reissued, January, 2022.

Welcome to the fourth Gypsies in Cyberspace album, "Transoceanic Railway".

It's hard to believe the Gypsies have recorded four albums together...especially when you consider that the two of us have never inhabited the same space, at the same time. It's true. Four albums into our musical partnership and we've yet to meet, in person. That pesky Atlantic Ocean still separates us. And yet, the Internet continues to provide the perfect medium for us to exchange ideas and musical contributions with each other, riding the technological rails of our own "Transoceanic Railway".

Joining us on our journey this time around were Ron Baumgartner, Cliff Stafford and Rick Marksberry, who graciously contributed their time and musical talents to help transform those initial ideas mentioned earlier into the ten songs that ultimately became this album. Thanks, guys. We couldn't have done it without you.

And now, our work is finished. (Well, not really. We've already started planning a fifth Gypsies' album. But that's another set of liner notes...to be written at another, later, time.) We invite you to hop aboard our "Transoceanic Railway", as this particular musical train rolls out of the station. Enjoy your trip.
